Breitling Brand Presentation Press Release
“You simply don’t become official supplier to world aviation by chance”
A specialist of technical watches, Breitling has played a crucial role in the development of the wrist chronograph and is a leader in this complication. The firm has shared all the finest moments in the conquest of the skies thanks to its sturdy, reliable and high-performance instruments. One of the world's only major watch brands to equip all its models with chronometer-certified movements, the ultimate token of precision, Breitling is also one of the rare companies to produce its own mechanical chronograph movements, entirely developed and manufactured in its own workshops. This family business is also one of the last remaining independent Swiss watch brands.
ritain's Nigel Lamb won the 2014 Red Bull Air Race World Championship on Sunday, October 26th with a dramatic victory under pressure at the season finale in Spielberg, Austria. With a fourth place finish in front of a sell-out crowd of 35,000 spectators, Austria's Hannes Arch ends up second in the overall ranking.
Although, the French pilot Nicolas Ivanoff won the race in the Austrian Alps on a sunny afternoon for his second victory this season, the 9 points that Lamb won with his fifth consecutive second place was enough to stave off a powerful challenge from local hero Arch. The British pilot secured first place with a grand total of 62 points from the eight-race world championship, which was the most exciting in the high-speed, low-altitude sport's history.
"It's just amazing," said Lamb, who came from far behind in the World Championship with a victory in the third race of the season in Malaysia and then got five straight second place finishes to overtake Arch and Bonhomme in the standings.
“I have to say my race did not go as planned, my times were not fantastic through the week. It was not a good day today in racing terms, there was never a time I thought I had the Championship secured, I had a good team giving me lots of inputs, the aircraft felt good and I felt very well supported. Also from my family they are very involved but Max especially, doing all the race analysis. It is very difficult having one of your children telling you what to do, but he found a good way of not trying to change my flying but just seeing the small adjustments, which make the maximum differences.”
Breitling, the Swiss watch manufacturer, continued their support of the non-profit organization Honor Flight, by contributing funds to make a flight possible for veterans of D-Day, in honor of the 70th Anniversary of the historic day.
This flight made it possible for 65 Southeast Florida veterans who stormed Normandy Beach on June 6, 1944 to visit the memorial dedicated to their service 70 years later. This special anniversary Honor Flight joined over 300 other D-Day survivors at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia on June 6, 2014, followed by a visit to the WWII Memorial, among others, in Washington, DC on June 7, 2014.
"To be able to celebrate and recognize D-Day Survivors on the 70th Anniversary of such a monumental day in history is truly a unique way to thank them for their service," said Thierry Prissert, Breitling U.S.A. President. "Time is running out for many of these veterans, so we're honored to have the chance to work with Honor Flight Network to give them 'one last mission' and honor them as they so rightly deserve."
The 70th Anniversary of D-Day, which initiated the Western Allied invasion of Nazi-occupied Europe during World War II, was observed in a special ceremony at the National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, Virginia wherein the Bedford Boys "Homage" sculpture by the late artist, Jim Brothers, was dedicated. Additional program highlights included an honor guard, recognition of D-Day veterans, guest speakers, and dignitaries from France, Canada, United Kingdom and Belgium.
The Honor Flight Network, whose mission is to send veterans to visit the memorial dedicated to their service in Washington, DC, free of charge, has sent more than 118,000 veterans to Washington, DC to date. To date, Breitling has supported the Honor Flight Network with donations totaling over $200,000 to support Honor Flight's mission.
Overall, the Breitling Racing Team has had a successful weekend with not only principle pilot Nigel Lamb clinching the highly sought after Masters Cup, but also Breitling supported pilot François le Vot taking home the Challenger Trophy. The current World Aerobatic Champion has won three Challenger races in a row, and looks very confident in the new series introduced to bring new pilots into the sport.

In the early 1980s, Ernest Schneider – to whom Willy Breitling had just sold his firm – learned that the Frecce Tricolori, the Italian airforce aerobatics team, had issued a bid for tender on their first official watch. He accordingly decided to create a brand-new aviation chronograph specifically designed for pilots’ needs. This instrument was developed in close cooperation with the squadron. All details of the construction and exterior were designed to meet the demands of aviation professionals – be it the sturdiness of the case, the profile of the lugs, the readability of the dial and the ergonomic shape of the pushpieces and crown. Won over by this ultra-functional, avant-garde and elegant chronograph, the Italian flying aces voted in its favor and the official Frecce Tricolori watch was launched in 1983.
Breitling and aviation enjoy passionate and enduring ties. A quest for innovation dedicated to fine accomplishments. A desire to constantly push existing boundaries. A taste for risk and adventure.
From aviation pioneers to Jetman's feats, from the Navitimer chronograph to the Breitling Jet Team, and from onboard chronographs to the Reno air races -- the world's fastest motor sport --, Breitling has shared all the finest hours in the conquest of the skies.
In 130 years, the firm with the winged B has established itself as the undisputed specialist of pilot's watches thanks to its accurate, sturdy, high-performance instruments developed for the most demanding professionals.

Tokyo, 6th November 2013 Yves ‘Jetman’ Rossy has completed his first flight in Asia choosing the iconic Mount Fuji, Japan as a symbolic backdrop for this milestone flight.
Flying above the famous snow-capped peak, at up to 185mp/h (300km/h) looping and rolling with his jet powered carbon-Kevlar® wing, Yves Rossy enjoyed a unique perspective of the famous landmark most people only see from the ground, or simply from TV and photos.
Yves Rossy commented:
“Flying here for me is a dream. It is such a contrast flying free with just a wing on my back, compared to being enclosed in a cockpit as an airline pilot. It is hard describe the emotions and feeling of having an opportunity like this, it’s spiritual, it is immense. I am the lucky guy who gets to do this, but I hope I can motivate the next generation of forward thinkers to do something different, to strive and achieve their goals… even if it seems impossible.”
Following the recent tour of the Breitling Jet Team in Japan, Breitling, a watch brand synonymous with aviation, is pleased to support these outstanding achievements, which are part of activities marking the 150th anniversary of diplomatic relationships between Switzerland and Japan.

Since its launch in 2003, the collection of Breitling for Bentley chronographs has matched exceptional mechanisms with quintessential British style. The essence of Britain. Made in Switzerland by Breitling. No one was better placed to embody this inimitable blend of elegance and luxury, originality and true class than David Beckham, the icon who has become the ultimate symbol of British style.
The star notably appears in the visual of the new advert shot in the Californian desert by Anthony Mandler. This dark, original and striking portrait reflects the entire Breitling for Bentley spirit. “My aim was to make Beckham a hero: a strong, masculine figure”, comments the famous American photographer. “I wanted to take the strongest elements of Breitling communication and associate them with the strongest aspects of David’s image and personality.”
Destined for the long haul, the partnership between Breitling for Bentley and David Beckham is based on a long-established mutual admiration. “I was among the first to acquire a Breitling for Bentley chronograph”, says Beckham. “I love the combination of a high-performance ‘engine’ reflecting Swiss excellence and a powerful design.
